Emily Shields

As vice president of business development, Emily Shields is responsible for developing a coordinated network and business development strategy across the OSF HealthCare Ministry under a centrally managed but regionally delivered operating model. A servant leader who leads with integrity, she has proven her ability to establish a vision, build relationships with key strategic partners, facilitate collaboration and work tirelessly to achieve results.

As leader of the OSF HealthCare Mergers & Acquisitions team, Shields led the acquisition of hospitals in Evergreen Park and Princeton, Illinois, increasing the OSF footprint to 15 hospitals across Illinois and Michigan. She works with executive leadership to navigate the creation of agreements with external partners and ensure a smooth integration into the organization. She is responsible for establishing strong relationships with key employers and has designed and implemented recruitment strategies to attract physicians and advanced practice providers to OSF HealthCare. As the COVID-19 pandemic spread in 2020, she led efforts to create a partnership with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to slow the spread of the disease and safely reopen the communities of Champaign County.

Shields and her husband purchased Heritage Square in Peoria Heights in 2015, intending to revitalize the shopping center after years of lackluster performance. In 2018 she helped guide the multi-million dollar expansion of the center, which is now a vibrant location known for its shops, restaurants, entertainment and events.

As a board member of the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce, Shields helped oversee its strategic direction as it advocated on behalf of the local business community. A founding member of the Illinois CancerCare Young Leaders Board, she helped organize numerous events to raise funds for local cancer research, education and patient support. She is an active volunteer at St. Thomas the Apostle School, serving on the Education Commission, organizing fundraisers and recreational events, and volunteering in the classroom as a room mother. She is also a past member of its marketing committee. PM
