Anne M. Bowman

Hult Center for Healthy Living

As associate executive director of the Hult Center for Healthy Living, Anne M. Bowman, CHES is instrumental in the center’s daily operations, including grant writing, budgeting, curriculum and educator management. As lead grant writer, Bowman helps to secure thousands of dollars each year to benefit educational programming at Hult, maintaining key relationships with the Heart of Illinois United Way, Komen Foundation and other grant providers. She provides substantial oversight on program measurements, serves on the Finance Committee and leads Hult’s annual budget preparation.

Exhibiting a true passion for health education, Bowman has climbed the ranks in an unprecedented fashion since starting as an intern in 2008. Among her many accomplishments, she has sparked the growth of outreach health education programs from 20 to 51 percent of the center's business and continues to take on new challenges as exciting opportunities for growth.

In addition to regularly speaking at service clubs and on behalf of the Heart of Illinois United Way, Bowman is a member of the United Way’s GENeration United LEAD Committee and past member of its SERVE Committee, member of the Iowa Army National Guard’s Family Readiness Group, founding member of the Community Foundation of Central Illinois’ EPIC Fund, co-chair of the Young Professionals Organization of Greater Peoria’s Health and Fitness Committee, and a regular volunteer for United Way partner-agency events and activities.

Having grown up observing her father’s leadership and compassion for helping others, Bowman says giving back to her community is “just a part of who I am.” She devotes community service hours to organizations like the Midwest Food Bank, Junior League of Peoria, Alzheimer’s Association, Peoria Friendship House, Special Olympics, American Red Cross and more.

Bowman is a 2013 graduate of the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce Community Leadership School and a 2004 recipient of the 25 Women in Leadership Award—an honor she earned when she was just 18. Described as “a great role model” for other volunteers, she resides in Peoria with her husband and their two dogs. iBi
