The beautiful and historic Soderstrom Castle on Grandview Drive is a unique setting for philanthropic events year-round. Read more about the historic castle in the Sep/Oct 2017 issue of Art & Society magazine!
Charmed by familiar faces and even more so by the philanthropy of this local family, I will forever regard this iconic Peoria destination with respect and admiration. What a blessing to so many friends and families, organizations and special events -- thank you, Peoria Magazines and Dr. Soderstrom and family, for welcoming us into this jewel of a home.
As a child my parents and I lived on a farm near Gilman owned by George and Helen Lusk. I remember them coming in a Cadillac limosine chauffered by a black man named Cecil Peach. Sometimes her mother Mrs Chubbuck would come too. My parents visited them in Peoria. I finally got to see the castle on a bus tour of Grandview Drive with the IFPD convention. I was thrilled. Mrs Lusk spoiled me at Christmas with puppies named Mike and Joe, a six room dollhouse, and a fairy princess doll which I still have.
