Courtney L. Ransom has been a rising star at RLI Corp. for 12 years, where she is assistant vice president of organizational development. From creating and managing employee training and development programs to overseeing the human resources information system to conducting employee surveys and recognition, she has been instrumental in building strategic initiatives to identify and nurture future leaders at the company.
Since joining RLI as a benefits administrator in 2002, Ransom has been promoted five times, illustrating her drive, innovative thinking and dedication. Through her efforts, leadership development has become engrained in the company culture. She was the driving force behind RLI’s new Leadership Evaluation And Development (LEAD) program, the success of which prompted her to expand the program in 2013 and develop the Emerging Leaders Program, which replicates key attributes of the LEAD program to additional levels of management.
Ransom led RLI’s intern program and made many positive improvements to allow the firm to attract emerging talent. Upon identifying the need for an updated timekeeping, attendance and payroll/human resource information system, she educated herself on the available options, made a recommendation to management, and implemented the new system.
Along the way, she has continued to enhance her professional skills, earning the Certified Benefits Professional (CBP), Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and Certified Compensation Professional designations. She was selected to represent RLI on the Human Resources Committee of the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America, where she is responsible for organizing the annual industry-wide HR Committee meeting and ensuring a meaningful agenda.
Ransom is a board member of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Peoria and is actively involved in many of its fundraising efforts. She leveraged her background in music to help plan the organization’s first karaoke contest fundraiser, and has volunteered for the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual golf outing. When not scouting emerging talent or developing leadership skills among veteran talent, she likes to golf, run, cook and spend time with her daughter, Ella. iBi
