Always one to go above and beyond, Becky Rossman has excelled in her duties as president and CEO of Neighborhood House, which has strived to make the south side of Peoria a better place to live for more than 117 years. She oversees a staff of 84, a budget of $2 million and nearly 30 different programs, including Meals on Wheels, Critters on Wheels and Preschool for All, as well as on- and off-site locations for before- and afterschool care, a summer camp and a senior program. During her tenure, she has reorganized the agency to improve efficiency, overall compliance and fiscal stability.
Prior to her role at Neighborhood House, Rossman worked at the Knox County Child Advocacy Center in Galesburg, where she was responsible for gaining accreditation from the National Children’s Alliance, opening a satellite office, initiating a prevention program and increasing the annual budget by 50 percent. She has also volunteered time to train victim advocates on identifying symptoms of vicarious trauma and burnout, and coping skills to combat compassion fatigue and burnout.
A recipient of the 25 Women in Leadership Award and the Mental Toughness Award from the Children’s Advocacy Center of Illinois, Rossman has demonstrated extensive community involvement. She is president of the Tazewell County 4H Foundation Board and serves on the boards of Leaders Change Peoria and the Pediatric Resource Center, where she has taken on leadership roles for a range of fundraisers and community awareness events. A graduate of the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership School, she now serves on the Advisory Committee. She has also earned two national defense medals from the U.S. Army.
Even with her professional and community involvement, Rossman still places family above all else. She coaches two active children, instructing them in archery, volunteering with the Parent Teacher Organization at their school, and attending all of their games, concerts and other activities. iBi
