An associate attorney with Hasselberg Grebe Snodgrass Urban & Wentworth, David B. Wiest manages a growing estate planning and administration practice, where he helps individuals plan for the future and families manage the passing of loved ones. In addition, Wiest handles business and real estate transactions, serves as lead associate in the firm’s labor and employment practice, and is active in civil litigation.
A Peoria County Bar Association board member, Wiest chairs the Communications and Technologies Committee and was its lead advocate during Peoria County’s switch to electronic filing. He has taken a leadership role in the Young Lawyer Committee and organized the PCBA’s first annual suit drive, collecting clothing to benefit Dress for Success and the Tri-County Urban League. In addition, he periodically schedules lawyers to conduct mock interviews for the Dress for Success career training program.
For two years, Wiest has served on the board of the Young Professionals Organization of Greater Peoria, where he is vice chair and co-chair of the Murray Baker Task Force. Earlier this year, he organized a YPGP trivia night event to raise money for Easter Seals, and in 2014, he will serve as the organization’s chair. He is also an associate board member for the Peoria Riverfront Museum, where he serves on the Collections Committee, helping to draft a collections policy to govern acquisitions, as well as the planning committee of “Fore the Fun of It,” one of the museum’s premiere fundraisers.
Wiest serves on the scholarship committee of the Community Foundation of Central Illinois and was a founding member of the Emerging Philanthropists in Central Illinois Fund. He also serves as his firm’s United Way campaign chair, education coordinator and president-elect of the local chapter of Business Networking International, and is a frequent presenter on estate-planning topics. Most recently, he was appointed to serve on the inaugural Youth Advisory Board of the Peoria Art Guild. iBi
