Steve Hinton is marketing manager for the Americas Construction & Infrastructure Division at Caterpillar Inc., where he is responsible for the development and execution of market strategies that support a multi-billion-dollar annual business plan, leading a team of 11 in a very dynamic environment.
Hinton is accountable for aggressive market-share goals for 13 product lines sold in North America, Central America and South America, and manages annual marketing budgets in excess of $4 million. He has consistently delivered higher-than-target revenues and received high rankings for employee engagement and teamwork on internal surveys. He successfully secured a $100-million-plus, five-year North American heavy equipment contract that will increase governmental market share and was recognized by Caterpillar in 2006 with a Chairman’s Award for excellent performance.
A passionate veteran, Hinton spent four years on active duty in the U.S. Air Force, winning the 1992 United States Air Forces in Europe Airman of the Year award. He has raised money to support the troops in Afghanistan and Iraq, and actively supports the Wounded Warriors organization, which helps those who return from combat with debilitating injuries. He also owns Five Senses Spa and Salon with his wife Paola, spending time each week supporting their successful business, on top of working long hours at Caterpillar.
Hinton served as assistant chair for the 2012 Caterpillar Construction & Infrastructure Division United Way Campaign, and is a strong supporter of the Cancer Center for Healthy Living and Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Other organizations he supports in various ways include the American Cancer Society, Children with Hair Loss, Children’s Hospital of Illinois, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Children’s Home, Easter Seals, The Center for Prevention of Abuse, National MS Society and the Peoria Humane Society.
In addition to his work responsibilities and community efforts, Hinton is a caring husband and loving father of two. iBi
