To offer interactive, nature-oriented educational and recreational activities that provide transformational experiences inspiring conservation of the great outdoors.
Be the premier wildlife park that will be both the steward of the environment and preferred destination where families and friends can learn about nature and create lasting memories.
Wildlife Prairie Park is often referred to as a jewel in the Midwest. Located just outside of Peoria, Illinois, this 2,000-acre zoological park is home to over 150 animals of 60 different species that are native to Illinois.
Our guests come to learn about wolves, bison, waterfowl, black bears, elk, otters and the many other species we have. They come to hike on 25 miles of groomed hiking trails or bike on 24 miles of maintained biking trails. They come to fish in one of our five fishing lakes, birdwatch, and camp. They come to play disc golf, stay in one of our cabins, and to just enjoy nature and the great outdoors.
You will enjoy the Park’s spectacular natural landscape and our many avenues of recreation, including train rides and so much more! Plan a visit today… your adventure awaits!
How to Help
Wildlife Prairie Park is grateful for the gifts received from our many supporters. Despite the pandemic, we had some exciting things happen in 2020. In July, Peoria Magazine’s Best of Peoria named us the Best Place for Family Fun and Best Hidden Gem. In November, the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce granted us the 2020 Outstanding Small Business Award. We also welcomed two white bison, Lakota and Tatanka, into our animal family. This year we’re working on getting two new cougars—and we need help from the community to make it happen.
There are several ways you can support the Park and help this natural wildlife habitat grow and succeed. Memberships are a simple and rewarding way to support the Park as well as general donations of monies, food, animal care items and time.
We love our volunteers and have many volunteer opportunities that change seasonally. Check out our website for details or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
