UnityPoint Health Foundation, as a resource to all parts of UnityPoint Health in the Central Illinois region, is committed to improving the health of the people and communities we serve.
The UnityPoint Health Foundation supports initiatives to improve the health and wellness of the central Illinois surrounding community. We provide resources vital to advancing healthcare services, upgrading technology, increasing access, and wellness education for all of our UnityPoint Health hospital campuses, facilities and clinics.
UnityPoint Health introduced CenteringPregnancy to central Illinois. CenteringPregnancy is a group prenatal care model that increases access to prenatal care and socializing between other moms-to-be. Peoria has a higher rate of babies born before their full term, than the state of Illinois and the entire U.S. Research shows group prenatal care can decrease preterm and low-weight births and increase breastfeeding rates. UnityPoint Health’s CenteringPregnancy program also aims to narrow the large disparity between black and white moms’ access to care.
The Hult Center for Healthy Living, dedicated to providing health education and resources to people of all ages across central Illinois, welcomed the Mega Brain as a hands-on exhibit. The Mega Brain exhibit provides area students an opportunity to enjoy and learn from a multi-sensory experience at the Hult Center. On average, 52,000 students aged pre-K through high school are impacted by its youth health education programs.
