To bring the world to central Illinois. We do this by offering a variety of engaging world affairs programs and educational initiatives that provide opportunities for face-to-face learning and dialogue with global leaders, business executives, diplomats, policy experts, social innovators and distinguished opinion makers. We are a nonpartisan organization and take no institutional positions on matters of policy.
Through expanded, informed, respectful public discourse about international relations and current events, we can transform how people think about the world and encourage them to act accordingly.
Bringing the World to Central Illinois
Our programs bring national and international experts to the Peoria area; cater to a diverse, multi-generational audience;
and promote a better understanding of international history, culture and current events. We believe this enables our
communities to better compete, collaborate and make informed decisions.
Along with speakers and public discussion forums, we offer guided travel opportunities, book club meetings and film screenings, all designed to inform the public on a range of critical issues. These include national security, foreign policy challenges, international trade, global health, energy and the environment, immigration, human rights, education and culture.
To promote the next generation of global thinkers, PAWAC hosts the International Scholastic Bowl each November, and
the Summer Institute for more engaging opportunities for high school students in Central Illinois.
