Mission
To preserve and enhance our natural and cultural heritage by fostering and supporting ecological, educational and outdoor recreational programs for the benefit of all people now and for generations to come.
Vision
The Illinois Conservation Foundation inspires today’s youth—tomorrow’s leaders—by providing quality outdoor and
conservation education programs that instill a lifelong interest in conservation, outdoor recreation and sustainability.
Since 1995, the Illinois Conservation Foundation has raised and given away over $41 million in collaboration with the
Illinois Department of Natural Resources and other private and public entities. Together with our donors and partners,
we provide conversation education and outdoor heritage opportunities for Illinois citizens of all ages to help instill a
lifelong interest in conservation, outdoor recreation and sustainability.
Our programs, scholarships and projects include:
- Building conservation legacy: Illinois Conservation Achievement Scholarship, biodiversity field trip grants, schoolyard habitat grants
- Preserving our outdoor heritage: wingshooting clinics, National Archery in Schools program, Scholastic Clay Target program, Becoming an Outdoorswoman clinics, Disabled Outdoor Opportunities program, safety
education programs and more - Restoring wildlife and habitat: Lake Michigan artificial reef, reforestation, land acquisitions
- Preserving our state parks: statue restoration, equipment purchases
- Torstenson Youth Conservation and Education Center: outdoor adventures and education workshops, field trips, youth hunts, fishing activities
