To increase the organized capacity of people in central Illinois to care for one another.
To create a strong, safe and healthy community while providing the best return for the community’s charitable investment.
As the largest local investor in critical community needs, the Heart of Illinois United Way understands the art and science behind the philanthropy of supporting people in need throughout central Illinois.
The Heart of Illinois United Way focuses on identifying and addressing education, financial stability and health concerns in Peoria, Tazewell, Woodford, Marshall, Stark and Putnam counties. Through our data-driven process, we evaluate and apply this ongoing research to our Community Impact Fund grant process. This invests our community’s donations strategically and with the best philanthropic return on investment…resulting in measurable change in the lives of those in need in our community.
The Community Impact Fund is not only a reliable and steady source of income for our partner agencies; it is also vital to supporting United Way initiatives and collaborations including the 2-1-1 Information and Referral Service, education initiatives such as Success By 6, our community-wide volunteer efforts, and the Home for All Continuum of Care.
United Way-funded programs result in measurable, positive change in central Illinois. Donations to our Community Impact Fund mean that: more than 80 percent of youth in our education programs improve school readiness and go on to achieve academic success; more than 85 percent of low-income individuals, families, seniors and persons with developmental disabilities are able to live independently in affordable homes; and more than 85 percent of adults and youth improve their overall physical and mental health.
