Habitat for Humanity Greater Peoria Area

Mission
Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.

Vision
A world where everyone has a decent place to live.

Habitat for Humanity Greater Peoria Area is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally through construction, rehabilitation and preservation of homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions.

Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, durable place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent shelter in decent communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all. We partner with local families who live in substandard housing. They must be able to pay their Habitat mortgage and complete 250 to 500 sweat-equity hours to prove their dedication to our program.

We believe education is a powerful tool in improving the quality of life for our partner families. Habitat for Humanity Greater Peoria Area requires that our families attend 12 mandatory Habitat and debt counseling classes. We give them the education and resources they need to become strong, independent and empowered homeowners.
