Enriching lives through the power of public media.
Dynamic, thriving communities informed and inspired by public media.
WTVP has a long history of high-quality programming and occupies a unique position in the media marketplace. PBS is regularly named the most trusted media brand, according to national polls. At WTVP, we are honored to be a trusted and valued local organization.
WTVP is among the few remaining locally-owned media outlets in the region, and we have the largest TV studio in downstate Illinois. Our commitment to education is unwavering, as this year we focus on PBS LearningMedia and the 40,000 videos and lesson plans available free to local schools, daycare centers and families.
We seek to be central Illinois’ recognized leader in telling stories that matter. We shed light on events, people and culture through in-depth interviews with local newsmakers on At Issue with H. Wayne Wilson and Consider This with Yvonne Greer.
We are known as the primary source for original, locally-produced documentaries, cultural productions and public affairs. Whether you find us online, at an event or on the air, our station is known as the destination for stories, projects, programs and entertainment that engage, enhance and inspire.
How to Help
WTVP is commercial-free and supported by the community. The majority of our funding comes from local donations… we couldn’t do it without friends like you. CPB funding goes directly to stations like WTVP and is matched by local dollars 3-to-1.
