Peoria Public Libraru

Mission
The Peoria Public Library will provide all residents books, other printed materials, new technologies and programs that stimulate personal intellectual growth and development, and provide a satisfying experience that nurtures a love of reading and the joy of discovery.

Vision
The Peoria Public Library envisions an exciting future… We will provide all residents lifelong learning and recreational opportunities through equal access to books, other printed materials, programs and new technologies. Nurturing the love of reading and the joy of discovery are touchstones for the Peoria Public Library.

A progressive educational and cultural center for the community, Peoria Public Library is dedicated to building on its legacy of 138 years of quality service. With five locations, a 24/7 digital library and a Bookmobile, the Peoria Public Library provides cutting-edge, equal library service to Peorians of all ages in all parts of the city.

In addition to a collection of books, periodicals, music and other materials, Peorians are able to access many vital library services over the internet. With a library card and PIN, a large collection of downloadable e-books, streaming and downloadable music, movies and research tools are accessible from wherever there is an internet connection, making the library as portable as any smart device. Our website is the gateway to our online library at peoriapubliclibrary.org.

All Peoria Public Library locations also offer meeting spaces of various sizes that can be reserved and used by the public or organizations for meetings, trainings, programs and other uses. Computer labs at the Main Library and Lincoln Branch and auditoriums at the Main Library and North Branch provide spaces important to the community for larger meetings or performances. Each building is equipped with free wi-fi.

The community is enriched with free programs and exhibits offered for every age throughout the year. From storytimes for the little ones to book clubs and discussion groups for adults, help with technology, monthly music, gallery exhibits, author talks, STEM programs, poetry competitions and gardening programs, the Peoria Public Library is a vital source of education, information and entertainment for all.

How to Help
The Friends of Peoria Public Library financially support the library with funds for children’s programming, the Summer Reading Party, author programs and much more. They operate the Friendly Finds Bookstore at Peoria Public Library Main Library, with thousands of gently used books at bargain prices. Sale shelves are also available at North, Lakeview, Lincoln and McClure branches.

Volunteers are always needed to help with the bookstore, and donations of used books and DVDs are welcomed. Tax-deductible donations made to the Friends will go to support the library. Gifts and memorials sent to Peoria Public Library are also tax-deductible.
