Peoria Historical Society

To preserve, share and celebrate the stories of the Peoria area

To be the community resource and advocate for historical preservation and research on the Peoria area, its organizations and its people.

The Peoria Historical Society collects, preserves and displays items relating to our history; encourages and supports historical research and education; and promotes and sustains public interest in the history and contributions of our people and organizations.

Henri de Tonti Award Celebration
Each year the Historical Society honors individuals who demonstrate outstanding community leadership. This year, we honor Jim Baldwin. The event takes place September 12, 2019 in the Hayden-Clark Alumni Center at Bradley University. Tickets will be available at the Peoria Historical Society office.

History Tours
History on the Move Historic Bus Tours provide the unique opportunity to view many of the historic homes and venues in the Peoria area. Certified PHS guides lead historical bus tours from June through October on Friday and Saturdays. Custom (“step-on”) tours with a PHS-certified guide can also be arranged for organizations that provide their own private transportation. The customized historic tour can also be combined with a tour of one or both historic house museums.

History Thru Art - 55th Annual Rennick Art Show
The Peoria Historical Society presents the 55th Annual Rennick History Thru Art Show at the Peoria Riverfront Museum, May 4-27, 2019. An opening reception will take place on May 3rd. All artwork will be done by local artists and will have historical significance to Peoria. Plan your visit!
