Greater Peoria Honor Flight

Greater Peoria Honor Flight

The Greater Peoria Honor Flight escorts America’s veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit those memorials dedicated to honor their service and sacrifices.

Our vision is to honor as many of these selfless, “ordinary” people who saved the world as we can by providing no-cost, escorted trips to their memorials in Washington, D.C.

The Honor Flight network is a nonprofit organization created solely to honor America’s veterans for their sacrifices. We transport our heroes to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials.

Honoring All Veterans
The Greater Peoria Honor Flight pays tributes to America’s heroes who have served during World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War, followed by veterans of more current wars. These men and women have given so much, and it’s time we show them that their efforts are not forgotten.

The Honor Flight program is just a small token of our appreciation for those who gave so much. It is our way of saying to all of our veterans: one more tour with honor.

The Role of Guardians
Greater Peoria Honor Flight would not be successful without the generous support of our guardians. Guardians play a significant role on each trip, ensuring that every veteran has a safe and memorable experience. Duties include physically assisting the veteran at the airport, during the flight and at the memorials.

It is the guardian’s responsibility to raise $500 to cover his or her own expenses. This fee covers airfare, bus fare, meals, admission into all venues, etc. The veteran’s fee is paid for through the fundraising efforts of Greater Peoria Honor Flight.

Guardians are required to attend a mandatory two-hour training session held locally. If you apply as a guardian (and you are also a veteran), you will be required to pay the $500 guardian fee and attend the training. You will be notified approximately six weeks before the flight for which you are selected.

All guardians must be between the ages of 18 and 75. We must have an application on file for every guardian before they can attend an Honor Flight with a veteran. Guardians can apply to travel with a particular veteran or to be an at-large guardian.
