Join GENeration United on Wednesday, September 25 from 5 -7 p.m. for Beers & Books, a volunteer opportunity to help sort books for the Heart of Illinois United Way Success by Six Initiative. Drinks and snacks will be available to those who attend. This volunteer event will take place in the Heart of Illinois United Way Carriage House, located behind the United Way main office.

Girl Scouts of Central Illinois

We are excited to host the third annual Cookies and Cocktails at 5:30 p.m. in a new location – the beautiful Illini Country Club!

This unique event features a creative culinary competition where talented local chefs create a variety of delectable desserts inspired by Girl Scout cookies. The evening also includes a spectacular silent auction and raffle, delicious dinner stations and a cash bar.

Join Family House for a night of great food, beverages and Rockin' music from the 60’s, 70’s & 80's with Dr. Plunkett & The Heart Menders on Friday, September 27 from 6 - 10:30 p.m. at the Par-A-Dice Hotel Ballroom. Proceeds benefit Family House, a 20-room health care hospitality house that provides home-like accommodations 24 hours, 365 days a year for families of adult and pediatric patients and individuals receiving health care services in the Peoria area.

CWTC Make a Scarecrow - Make a Difference!

Community Workshop Training Center, Inc. is proud to announce our 2nd Annual Make A Scarecrow – Make A Difference event, Saturday September 29, 2018. The event will be held in the CWTC parking lot at 3215 N. University Street in Peoria next to Walmart and begins at 11AM.

The public is invited to make their very own scarecrow to take home and display as part of their fall decorating. The cost is just $20 and includes everything you need to build it, including straw, wood and clothes. The fun, fall event will feature family activities, food and more!

Running with the Dogs 5K Race/3K Walk

PAWS Giving Independence

Running with the Dogs is an annual fundraiser hosted by Paws Giving Independence.  This 5k run/3k walk is our biggest fundraiser. The funds that we raise through this event will help us continue to place service dogs free of charge each year.

Genealogy Day 2019

Peoria Public Library and Peoria County Genealogical Society will co-host a day of free workshops – beginner to advanced -- to help you trace your family tree.

Stay for one workshop or spend the day with us.

Candace Marx, a certified genealogical researcher with the Illinois State Genealogical Society, will discuss resources for Illinois research. Other topics include: How to use DNA to build your family tree, how to use Ellis Island manifests and how to access recently digitized Peoria County vital records online.
