The real razzmatazz happens Saturday, Dec. 7, with the daylong celebration, “It’s a Wonderful Heights.” If you don’t see Santa and Mrs. Claus, then you’re not trying very hard to find them, as they’ll be everywhere, starting at 10 a.m. at the IVY Club down on the riverfront and stopping at various places, on the hour, throughout the day. Even Santa has to eat, and so there will be a Santa Lunch at Brienzo’s in Heritage Square. He and the Mrs. will make an appearance at I Know You Like a Book, 4707 N. Prospect, at 4 p.m., where he will read to all the children who want to hear from him.
And please stick around, as at 6 p.m. there will be a Christmas tree lighting ceremony at Peoria Heights Village Hall, nestled inside Tower Park, beautiful and welcoming all year but especially now. By that time, you can’t help but be starving, so stay for dinner or a drink at your choice of popular eateries and bars.
Meantime, enjoy the carolers and musicians performing on the street corners in the business district. There will be selfie stations at different retailers, if you’d like to see how you look with angel wings. If you weren’t quite in the holiday spirit when you started, you will be by day’s end, guaranteed.
