The community is invited to join United Presbyterian Church in a celebration of Monarchs and the wonder of their migration to Mexico from 10am - 2pm. The celebration and education program begins with a special celebration worship service at 10am including music and the dance of the emerging butterfly. At 11am, participants will be invited to follow the giant butterfly on a short walk to the Pollinator Garden where they can observe and assist preschoolers from UPC Discovery classes as they tag and release monarch butterflies which they have raised for the migration trip It is an awe inspiring event to see these butterflies rise from fingers and hands and fly upward.
Participants will then be invited to have a free Butterfly Pork Chop Sandwich Lunch and view Flight of the Butterflies, an award winning film on how the migration pattern was discovered. There will be educational activities and displays on the monarchs, gardening, and the benefits of connecting with nature. The certified Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom will be open for play.
The butterfly pork chop lunch is free but reservations are required and can be made by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org, or calling Trish at United Presbyterian Church, 693-2002. Reservations are not required for those who want to just attend the event.
