The Greater Peoria League of Women Voters will discuss the American Community Survey at its Drinks and Dialogue event, 5:00 to 6:30 pm on September 18 at Zion Coffee Bar, 803 SW Adams St.
Did you know that the US Census Bureau sends surveys every year, not just every ten years? It is called the American Community Survey (ACS), and households may be selected (and are required) to respond to both. Caryl Riley, Partnership Specialist for the 2020 Decennial Operations, will present an overview of the ACS, your household’s legal requirements if selected, and discuss the importance of the data that is collected.
Join the discussion, learn how the ACS is different from the Decennial Census, and where and how this data is used to inform decisions in our communities. The event is free and the public is invited. Refreshments are available for purchase. Social time 5:00 pm. – 5:30 pm.
Drinks and Dialogue is offered on the 3rd Wednesday of the month, starting at 5:30 pm and ending promptly at 6:30 pm, always at a local restaurant, to discuss local, state and national topics relating to approved LWV positions, aimed at “Making Democracy Work.”
The League is a non-partisan issues oriented, volunteer, member directed organization committed to open, responsive and effective government brought about by informed, involved citizens with membership open to both men and women in Peoria, Tazewell, and Woodford counties.
