The Alzheimer’s Association, Central Illinois Chapter is offering information for those caring for individuals in the early stages of memory loss through the “Making Sense of Memory Loss” series. The programs runs from 6pm to 8:30pm on the following Tuesdays: August 5th, 12th and 19th. It will be held in the Lee L. Morgan Education Center (606 W. Glen Ave.) The cost to attend is $15.
Let the Peoria City Council know where you want your tax dollars invested. Two open houses have been scheduled to give the citizens of Peoria an opportunity to share their ideas on the 2009 budget. Both meetings are on Monday, August 4th. One is from 10am to 12pm at the Exposition Gardens. The other is from 5pm to 7pm at the Peoria City/County Health Department
ArtsPartners of Central Illinois is now accepting nominations for the 2008 ArtsPartner of the Year Award. Anyone can nominate a candidate. The award recognizes exemplary support and service to the local arts that resulted in a stronger and more vital cultural arts environment in the Peoria area. Nomination forms are available at artspartners.net and must be received by August 22nd to be considered. The award will be presented on Wednesday, September 17th at the ArtsPartners Annual meeting.

Bradley University’s lifelong learning program received a $100,000 grant from The Bernard Osher Foundation, a 30-year-old philanthropic organization headquartered in San Francisco, to expand programs for mature adults. As a result, the Bradley Institute for Learning in Retirement, in its 14th year, will be renamed the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.
