CIBP announces the launch of a new website, in conjunction with the new iBi magazine, which will be unveiled in the next few days. Peoriamagazines.com will go off-line later this afternoon for maintenance and will re-open on Friday, August 1st, just in time for you to submit nominations for the 15th class of 40 Leaders Under Forty! The Alzheimer’s Association, Central Illinois Chapter is offering information for those caring for individuals in the early stages of memory loss through the “Making Sense of Memory Loss” series. The programs runs from 6pm to 8:30pm on the following Tuesdays: August 5th, 12th and 19th. It will be held in the Lee L. Morgan Education Center (606 W. Glen Ave.) The cost to attend is $15.

Let the Peoria City Council know where you want your tax dollars invested. Two open houses have been scheduled to give the citizens of Peoria an opportunity to share their ideas on the 2009 budget. Both meetings are on Monday, August 4th. One is from 10am to 12pm at the Exposition Gardens. The other is from 5pm to 7pm at the Peoria City/County Health Department

ArtsPartners of Central Illinois is now accepting nominations for the 2008 ArtsPartner of the Year Award. Anyone can nominate a candidate. The award recognizes exemplary support and service to the local arts that resulted in a stronger and more vital cultural arts environment in the Peoria area. Nomination forms are available at artspartners.net and must be received by August 22nd to be considered. The award will be presented on Wednesday, September 17th at the ArtsPartners Annual meeting.

Bradley University’s lifelong learning program received a $100,000 grant from The Bernard Osher Foundation, a 30-year-old philanthropic organization headquartered in San Francisco, to expand programs for mature adults. As a result, the Bradley Institute for Learning in Retirement, in its 14th year, will be renamed the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.

Coming soon…nominations for the 2008 class of 40 Leaders Under Forty!

InterBusiness Issues is now searching for the next class of young leaders in the Peoria area—those who are making a notable difference in the community.

Nominees must be 39 years of age and younger as of September 30, 2008. A panel of judges will carefully review the nominations and determine those leaders who most aptly demonstrate successful leadership qualities and accomplishments in the Greater Peoria Area—those who make a difference and best define the spirit of youthful initiative throughout our community.

We are searching for candidates who share a commitment to business growth, to professional excellence and to the community—those who are shaping the future of central Illinois.

Those 40 leaders will be honored at a prestigious awards ceremony at the Hotel Pere Marquette on Thursday, November 6, 2008. The November issue of iBi will profile the winners.

Nomination forms will be available on August 1st at peoriamagazines.com and will run in the August and September issues of iBi.

Nominations will be accepted through Monday, September 15th.

The 31st Annual St. Jude Telethon will be held from 6:30pm to 12am on August 2nd in the Exhibit Hall at the Peoria Civic Center. The telethon will be hosted by former Mayor Jim Maloof and WEEK-TV news anchors.

Friday, August 1 @ Eastlight Theatre
Aida debuts at 7:30pm August 1st at Eastlight Theatre. The musical features music from Elton John and is a classic tale of a forbidden love between a soldier and an enslaved princess. Other dates include August 2nd, 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th also at 7:30pm and August 3rd at 2pm. Admission is $16, youth is $8. For more information call (309) 699-SHOW.
