In response to the Publisher's Note entitled "Rising Fuel Costs Will Force Change" in the June issue of IBI, the following comment was made:

The article is alarming even to consumers who were aware of the relationship of fuel/energy costs and way of life. Peoria is not just physically changing, but what I consider to be a rich fountain of ideas and potential. Like any mid-size city though, you're correct in that we have a loophole in transportation. Large cities create it out of necessity (space, traffic, and business) and small cities do not demand the resources to justify public transportation. It is my suggestion that Peoria would benefit from a network of community riders who may also appoint people to spread the message and promote the idea of public transportation. Until the idea of riding a bus seems acceptable image wise, it would probably not be a wise to quickly or haphazardly invest millions into the infrastructure project. Also, CityLink should perhaps target Bradley University and Illinois Central College Students as a more realistic makeover about "who's riding." Just an idea. Great to hear discussion on the issue and the solution will absolutely be comprehensive from business to personal lifestyle choices.
