Founded in 2003, StoryCorps is one of the largest oral history projects of its kind. From September 25th through October 18th, a StoryCorps "MobileBooth" will be stationed in Peoria, with the exact location to be announced. If CPR and defibrillation are not applied within 10 minutes, there is virtually no chance of survivial. However, when defibrillation is provided, the survival rate rises to as high as 49 percent.

- Peoria Area Hotels: A Roundtable Discussion
The Peoria area hotel market has undergone a sea change in recent years, with new hotels popping up across the region and major enhancements made to current establishments. With so much going on, it seems the local hotel industry deserves some attention. To that end, we spoke with a number of area hoteliers, asking them to shed some light on the topic. Participants included:
- Diana Anderson: Director of Sales & Marketing, Embassy Suites East Peoria
- Sami Qureshi: General Manager, Holiday Inn City Centre
- Kristen Charlton: General Manager, Mark Twain Hotel
- Joel Green: Director of Sales & Marketing, Hotel Père Marquette
- Renée Draves: President, Petersen Hotels
- Jan Quinton: General Manager, AmericInn Lodge & Suites
- Mary Jo Schettler: Director Hotel Operations, Par-A-Dice Hotel Casino
- "Charting our Course to a Greener Community" by Don Forrest, Farnsworth Group

- "What Does Web 2.0 Mean for Your Company?" by Amy Blain, ExplorePeoria.com
Particularly if you cater to a younger, web-savvy customer base, Web 2.0 needs to be a part of your marketing strategy.
- "A New Era in Building Design" by Darcy Immerman, Richard John & Adam Procell, STS/AECOM
The cleanest, safest, most secure, reliable and cost-effective kilowatt-hour is the one that isn't used.
- "Estate Planning: The Long View" by Dennis Fulkerson, RSM McGladrey
While estate planning often focuses on distribution of wealth after death, experts say many grantors don't make good use of tax-favored tools that can be used during their lifetime.
- "Breaking Up Is Hard to Do...If You Are Unprepared" by Michael S. Seneca, Howard & Howard Attorneys, P.C.
Carefully drafted operating agreements can avoid contentious and expensive disputes between members. An operating agreement should always include a tie-breaking mechanism for deadlock situations.
- "Rally for Healthcare Comes to Bradley's Campus" by Brad McMillan, Institute for Principled Leadership in Public Service
Nearly 100 Bradley University students joined members from AARP and the community to urge elected officials to get beyond gridlock and to work on bipartisan solutions for America's health care crisis.
- And, as always, much more in this month's IBI!
