Are you a junkie for data—especially government data? Tired of seeing bias in the information you receive? Do you believe elected officials should use more verifiable facts in their decision making? Then you’re the prime audience for USAFacts, a data-driven portrait of the American population, its government’s finances, and government’s impact on society.

Created and funded by former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, USAFacts is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit civic initiative with no political agenda or commercial motive. The free public service presents government data in a way that’s easy to understand, hoping it will provide a clearer picture of current trends so that all of us can make better-informed decisions.

Did you know that economic output in the U.S. manufacturing sector is rising, even as manufacturing jobs decline? It’s true, and that’s just one example of the knowledge that can be gleaned at usafacts.org. In this age of hyper-partisanship and so-called “fake news,” it might seem a quaint throwback, but as Mahatma Gandhi once said, “Truth alone will endure, all the rest will be swept away before the tide of time.” iBi
