Sarah Overton is Chief Nursing Officer/Vice President of Ambulatory Nursing, OSF Multispecialty Services at OSF HealthCare, responsible for strategic initiatives to ensure the consistency of clinical and nursing practices and standards of care for OSF HealthCare Medical Group, as well as the oversight of nursing for all ambulatory clinics across central Illinois and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. She oversees the same initiatives for OSF HealthCare Cardiovascular Institute, Illinois Neurological Institute and other ambulatory services.

A nurse for 13 years, Overton has worked in many different settings to gain clinical and leadership experience as she advanced her education. After joining OSF as a registered nurse, she was promoted to leadership roles as a site manager and regional manager, prior to being named Clinical Professional Practice Manager of Primary Care for all OSF Medical Group offices. As Nursing Lead Program Coach, she mentors newly on-boarded RNs, and she has earned the Anticoagulation Care Provider certification, Patient Centered Medical Home Coordinator certification and Rapid Improvement Model (RIM) Project Performance Improvement certification.

Overton volunteers her expertise in numerous capacities to provide health services and education to the public. As an Advance Care Planning Facilitator, she is trained to provide end-of-life planning and family conferences for the community. She organized the Women’s Heart Healthy event in 2013 to provide cholesterol screenings and education on cardiovascular risks and healthy lifestyle choices. In 2016, she volunteered for Goodwill’s Stand Down for Homeless Veterans, providing health assessments, exams, hygiene education and resource referrals. For the 2016 Life Expo, she coordinated OSF nursing students and OSF Medical Group participation to provide flu vaccinations and education to over 100 local seniors. At the 2016 Illinois Neurological Institute Concussion Prevention event, she provided education to Junior Football League players and their families.

In addition, Overton is a member of the 182nd Air Wing II Air National Guard Family Support, participating in deployment sendoffs and other events for service members and their families. She is currently enrolled in the Advanced Generalist Masters in Nursing Program and will complete her degree in December. iBi
