Scott Reeise is Director of Public Works for the City of Peoria, where he has spent a dozen years lending his expertise in civil engineering and design. Newly promoted to director, he oversees the Public Works Department’s seven divisions, coordinating development and budgeting for the City’s five-year Community Investment Plan, providing strategic planning for city streets, and regularly engaging in public discussions to hear the opinions and needs of residents.

Reeise has taken the lead on a number of significant infrastructure projects, including the Glen/University and Main/University intersection improvements and the Washington Street road revitalization—all three earning Project of the Year awards in their respective divisions from the American Public Works Association (APWA). In addition, his work on the Main/University intersection was recognized with the National Resource Center’s Transformation Award in a Built Environment.

In conjunction with the Washington Street project, Reeise leads the City’s efforts to transform the Warehouse District from a stark, industrial thoroughfare into an inviting public space with facilities for motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists. He is also in charge of planning and execution of the proposed green infrastructure solution for the City’s Combined Sewer Overflow issue, and was instrumental in securing a barrier system to protect the riverfront from severe flooding last year.

Reeise has a long history of community service, from sitting on the APWA Illinois Chapter Conference Board, to serving as Facility and Finance Chair at Washington Presbyterian Church, to serving on a mission trip for Hurricane Katrina victims. He has supported fundraising efforts for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, assisted in the alumni football fundraiser between Metamora and Washington high schools, and been an affiliate instructor at Bradley University.

Among his professional accomplishments, Reeise was named Public Works Engineer of the Year by the APWA in 2009 and Government Engineer of the Year by the American Society of Civil Engineers in 2014. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing and hunting. iBi
