As vice president, relationship manager and Business Banking team lead at Busey Bank, Jeremy L. Howard maintains customer relationships, builds new business, and mentors and coaches his team for effective sales results. Beginning his banking career as a branch manager trainee, he eventually supervised 12 branch associates and was later promoted to work on the Business Banking Cash Management team. As a regional manager, he led 14 officers across a three-state region.

At another financial institution, Jeremy went above and beyond the scope of his responsibilities to develop prospecting tools to help it reach its goals, breaking new ground by finding an innovative solution for his team’s success. He has also earned his MBA and Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) designation, a global symbol of professional excellence in his industry.

In order to foster long-term change in the community, Howard maintains commitments to a range of organizations. He is treasurer for the Sommer Place Homeowner’s Association, managing its funds while working to make a difference in his neighborhood, and serves on the advisory board for Northwestern Mutual – Greater Peoria. As a former president of the Progressive Business Group, Howard has helped raise nearly $800,000 since 2002, benefiting a range of Peoria-area charities, from Children’s Hospital of Illinois to Dream Center of Peoria to The Center for Prevention of Abuse. He has also served as a board member for the Peoria Humane Society, where he assisted in developing a long-term plan for the organization.

As a community leader, Howard never seeks attention for his efforts; he simply does what needs to be done. “He appears quiet and understated,” says one colleague, “yet he’s a dynamo that faces the risk of being overlooked. While the rest of us might think about changing the world… he is one of the ones that we didn’t notice in the background already doing it.” iBi
