For six years, Emily J. Weeks has been an accountant in Caterpillar’s Electronics Division, managing budget and financial reporting for the Cat Electronics Machine System and Software & Information departments, and leading management through strategic investment decisions for new Caterpillar machine and technology products. She recently led a proposal for a major strategic investment spanning most Caterpillar machines and engines, which will drive significant benefits to the company, its customers and dealers.

A Certified Public Accountant and member of the Illinois CPA Society, Weeks teaches financial literacy to Bradley students and offers insight into accounting careers. Through a mentoring program at Peoria High School, she helps students understand the skills needed in the accounting profession and for success in college. She has also mentored accounting interns through the Caterpillar Young Professionals group since 2012.

The Peoria area has benefited immensely from Weeks’ drive, passion and energy. Since graduating from the Young Professionals of Greater Peoria’s Leaders Emerging to Advance Peoria (LEAP) Academy in 2010, she has held several leadership positions with YPGP, including chair and vice-chair. She was a key contributor in Peoria’s successful bid for its fourth All-America City title, organizing the budget and travel arrangements; assisting with the application, video and presentation; and engaging local business. Through this effort, she became involved with the ELITE program, motivating inner city youth and teaching them critical job skills.

A founding member of the Illinois CancerCare Foundation, Weeks has coordinated logistics for Golfin’ in the Wild for the past three years, raising more than $50,000 for local cancer research. In addition, she is a member of the Peoria Promise Young Leaders Board and a volunteer with the Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization.

In June, Weeks and her husband, Andrew, welcomed their daughter, Alyssa, into the world. They enjoy cheering on their alma mater at Bradley basketball games, traveling to northern Wisconsin and Michigan to snowmobile, and spending time with family and friends. iBi
