As an acting branch manager with CEFCU, Rebecca L. Somogyi is responsible for day-to-day business operations, managing the teller line, vaults and scheduling; coaching employees to achieve their professional goals; and overseeing a variety of other projects. A participant in CEFCU’s Management Development Program, she works with staff across a variety of departments, assists with business services account training, and has previously led a formal training program for her peers.

A dedicated volunteer, Somogyi recently completed a second year as project captain for CEFCU’s Rebuilding Together Peoria team, leading renovations of local nonprofits like the Peoria Area Blind People’s Center. Last year, she was a Pacesetter Campaign ambassador for the Heart of Illinois United Way, delivering presentations, coordinating campaign materials and collecting donations, and she currently serves as a grant reviewer for the organization, with a focus on children/youth issues.

Active with the Young Professionals Organization of Greater Peoria, Somogyi is chair of its Marketing Committee and a past member of its Community Connection, Professional Development and Membership subcommittees. She was also among the team who landed Peoria’s All-America City Award.

Somogyi is vice president of public relations for CEFCU’s Toastmasters Club and participated in the WTVP Auction as “on-air talent,” calling out winning bids and entertaining viewers. This past summer, she took her love of running to a new level by volunteering as a coach for Access Steam, a training program for individuals with cognitive, developmental or physical disabilities.

Somogyi is a 2013 graduate of the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce Community Leadership School, a 2012 winner of the Carol Plotkin Award for Outstanding Volunteerism, a 2011 recipient of CEFCU’s Member Assistant Sales Award and a 2008 Durward Sandifer Fellow. Earlier this year, she presented a paper at a national conference that was later published in The Journal of Organizational Psychology. Somogyi holds a bachelor’s degree in communication and business administration from Eureka College and is currently pursuing her MBA at Bradley University. iBi
