For the past three years, Joseph D. Dalfonso has served as director of social media and web activities at Bradley University, expanding the institution’s web presence in today’s competitive online environment. Responsible for distributing all news releases and information regarding university happenings via social media networks, he is the primary contact for social media development across all departments, clubs and organizations on campus.
Thanks to his contagious passion, energy and creativity, Dalfonso has had a tremendous impact on Bradley’s ability to connect with students, alumni and faculty, as well as the outside world. He created and implemented the school’s first social media plan for enrollment management, a new way to communicate with prospective students that correlated with a 19-percent increase in applications and a record number of school visits. He orchestrated a campus-wide campaign to establish the university’s five academic colleges on Facebook and championed Bradley’s adoption of Uversity, a Facebook app that connects current and prospective students in a private online community. Dalfonso’s colleagues credit his entrepreneurial spirit for keeping Bradley on the cutting edge of new developments in social media.
Demonstrating leadership both professionally and in public service, Dalfonso has become involved in numerous community groups and organizations. Most prominently, he was an instrumental member of Peoria’s All-America City Executive Team, creating and managing its social media accounts, fundraising, recruiting volunteers and otherwise building support for the city’s successful bid at the 2013 All-America City Conference last June. His talents were essential in promoting Peoria’s “Forever Young” video, garnering more views and “likes” than any other finalist community and helping secure its win. He is also a member of the All-America City Marketing Committee, promoting and celebrating Peoria’s All-America City Award through publications, events and community celebrations.
Dalfonso is an executive board member of the Young Professionals Organization of Greater Peoria, a member of the Peoria Riverfront Museum Events Committee, and a former Washington Recreation Association youth baseball assistant coach. iBi
