Greg Rastatter is an attorney with Heyl, Royster, Voelker & Allen and a member of its commercial litigation, corporate organizations and healthcare practice groups in Peoria. In addition to providing legal counsel on nearly every aspect of commercial business, he leads the firm’s HIPAA compliance committee and is its “go-to” source for questions on healthcare law. A prolific author and speaker on the subject of medical records law and other healthcare topics, he advises medical providers on employment issues, governing documents, contract negotiations, and compliance standards.

With the most litigation experience of any associate in his office, Rastatter has served as lead defense counsel in numerous jury and bench trials, arbitrations and mediations. Always willing to share his wealth of experience with colleagues, he initiated a weekly lunch program, Heyl University, in which the firm’s partners and associates instruct paralegals and staff on the basics of Illinois and federal law. Twice a year, he volunteers his legal services at the Wills and Advance Directive Clinics held at Peoria Friendship House and Neighborhood House.

A member of the Peoria County Bar Association, Rastatter is chair of the Membership and Marketing Committee, a past member of the Young Lawyers Committee, and assists with Project Santa, which distributes gifts to local children in need. Active with the Bradley University and University of Illinois alumni associations, he is president of the Peoria Area Illini Club and teaches a freshman history class at Bradley.

Rastatter is a trustee on the Peoria Historical Society Board of Directors, providing legal counsel to the organization, negotiating contracts, and working to reduce its tax burden. He is an active member of the Rotary Club of Peoria – North and the Peoria Riverfront Museum Associate Board, and a 2008 graduate of the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce Community Leadership School. A native Peorian, Rastatter enjoys spending time with his wife, Melissa, and their three children, Brandon, Rylee and Dylan. iBi
