The United Way’s workplace campaign has been called one of the greatest social inventions in American history. Working together with employers and thousands of volunteers each year, the Heart of Illinois United Way invites people to come together to create a strong, safe and healthy community for the people of central Illinois.

There are many benefits—for employees, companies and the community—to running a United Way workplace campaign. While there are more tangible results, such as tax benefits and recognition, a United Way campaign is also a great way to improve morale and build teamwork within your organization.

Companies that conduct an annual United Way campaign help their employees learn more about their community’s critical needs and the health and human care services that are available. Plus, raising money is not just asking for donations, it provides opportunities to work together and engage fellow employees in fun activities like cookouts, games and much more.

The primary tool the Heart of Illinois United Way uses to drive local, community-wide change is our competitive grant process. By continually assessing current living conditions and historical social service trends, our United Way has been able to establish local outcomes that address the critical needs of the people throughout central Illinois. The Heart of Illinois United Way has more than 90 years of experience—which makes a workplace campaign the best opportunity for your employees to invest in lasting, systemic change taking place right in their hometowns.

Contributions to the Heart of Illinois United Way positively impact more than 1,100 people, each and every day, throughout Peoria, Tazewell, Woodford, Stark, Marshall and Putnam counties. A gift to the Heart of Illinois United Way stays here in central Illinois, providing vital programs that nurture youth, strengthen families, promote health and build self-reliance.

Supporting the United Way also leads to a healthier and more prosperous region that can attract new businesses, create more job opportunities and build sustainable growth. When we invest in vital social services that address and reduce health and human care needs, we create a well-educated workforce, safe neighborhoods, a strong educational system and an overall healthier community.

As the people, businesses and organizations of central Illinois continue to regain financial stability, supporting the United Way is more critical than ever. Since 2009, our 45 partner agencies have collectively lost more than $9.4 million in state and federal funding. While our annual campaign cannot fill this gap entirely, the United Way will continue to be the shortest distance between community investment and a stronger, healthier region.

Because of the support of the residents of central Illinois, the Heart of Illinois United Way is the largest non-governmental funder of health and human care services in the region. By ensuring lasting, systemic change, we’re having a dramatic impact on people’s lives. iBi
