Kyle Gorden has worked for Federal Companies for the past 18 years, starting in the freight shipping office without a college degree, but with a willingness to learn and progress in responsibility. Working his way up, Gorden has held positions in a variety of the company’s divisions, and currently serves as vice president of transportation. In this role, he plans and oversees transportation operations in the movement and storage of personal belongings and professional equipment. A combination of experience, education, discipline and passion led Gorden to his current position.
In addition to leadership in his profession, Gorden is an influential member of GENeration United, a leadership initiative for young professionals at the Heart of Illinois United Way. As a member of the executive committee and co-chair of the LEAD Committee, Gorden has helped develop the group’s core strategies, structure and goals, and continues to be one of its prominent leaders. His work contributed to the success of a community-wide event that raised more than $23,000 for local health and human service agencies.
Beyond his work with GENeration United, Gorden serves a variety of United Way member agencies, including the Peoria Friendship House, Midwest Food Bank and Common Place. He also serves as board secretary for the Boys and Girls Club of Pekin, and has been recognized for his volunteer work with the organization, including a food booth he organized at the Pekin Marigold Festival that raised more than $1,000. Combining his professional role with community service, Gorden has served as co-coordinator of Federal Companies’ United Way campaign, and was recognized by the nonprofit for his efforts. He also serves on the United Way Audit Committee and Campaign Cabinet.
Gorden leads by example through his dedication to volunteerism and his commitment to the growth and engagement of the region’s young leadership. Balancing his efforts in community service with continuous learning and professional development, including the completion of a higher education degree through evening coursework, he has proven to be a passionate leader in central Illinois. iBi
