Kenneth Baker is an associate attorney with Miller, Hall & Triggs, primarily working in estate planning and administration, real estate transactions, business organizations, and litigation. Since becoming an attorney in 2007, he has shown commitment, dedication and compassion in his professional and community commitments, even while serving a tour of duty with the U.S. Army Reserves in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2009. Following his service in Iraq, Baker returned to the area and picked up where he left off.

As chairman of the Peoria County Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Committee, Baker is the spokesperson and figurehead of the area’s young leaders, responsible for developing its presence in the community. In the past, he chaired the committee’s Project Santa initiative, which worked in partnership with South Side Mission to provide food, money and Christmas presents to socioeconomically disadvantaged families and children. Under his leadership, more than 240 gifts were given to local children, and over $2,500 was donated to local families.

Baker also serves as vice president of the Peoria Ballet Board of Directors. He has volunteered on several committees through his church, and provides pro bono legal services to its economically disadvantaged members. In the past, he volunteered to speak at local schools for Law Day events and served as a judge for high school mock trial competitions.

Baker received the Army Commendation Medal for his service and leadership in Iraq, particularly for his involvement in Operation Clean Sweep, in which he was responsible for managing and tracking hundreds of containers of equipment and supplies worth millions of dollars. He delivered the keynote address at the 2011 Peoria County Memorial Day event, and has spoken about his service at veterans’ and patriotic organizations. His dedication to providing pro bono legal services to the economically disadvantaged contributed to his firm’s recognition as Law Firm of the Year by Prairie State Legal Services and the Peoria County Bar Association.

Accomplishing these achievements while raising two children as a single parent, Baker is a proven leader in this community. iBi
