As managing director of the Heartland Capital Network within the Heartland Partnership, Kip McCoy is connected to a group of entities that helps bring both traditional and non-traditional funding to start-up entrepreneurs and key community initiatives. In his role, he is responsible for overseeing the Heartland Community Development Corporation, which was formed to facilitate lending and investment in community development projects.

McCoy is currently working on an application for funding from the Community Development Finance Institution, an important federal program that would allow our community to bring financing programs to individuals and businesses that might not receive traditional bank loans. He is the coordinator for the local Heartland Angel Network and is working to reinvigorate and restructure this group of individuals, who invest in early-stage start-ups and fill the gap between concept and venture capital. McCoy oversees all grant-writing activities for the Heartland Partnership family of companies, including grants for internal operations and community projects such as the Peoria NEXT Innovation Center.

A Bradley University graduate and native of the Peoria region, McCoy is a perfect example of the young professionals Peoria is looking to attract and retain. He sits on the Community Advisory Board for the Pediatric Resource Center, where he is active in fundraising initiatives. His activities helped to bring in more than $100,000 to the organization in each of the last two years. McCoy is also a member of the Community Relations Board for the Pekin Federal Prison. He volunteers at the Canton Church of Christ and is a graduate of the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership School.

In McCoy’s five years with The Heartland Partnership, he has had the opportunity to cultivate his management skills and become an effective and dynamic leader in any environment. McCoy personifies a positive attitude in his work ethic and shows his strong value system in all of the activities he undertakes.

Kip McCoy leads by example and has played an active role in The Heartland Partnership, Economic Development Council and Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce events and programs. iBi
