Ginger Johnson is executive director of the Tri-County Construction Labor-Management Council and Peoria Area Labor Management Council, where she is charged with developing and implementing programs that foster labor-management cooperation and strengthen the union construction industry in central Illinois. She focuses on the areas of public relations, workforce development, safety, energy efficiency, collaboration training and business development. Johnson is a requested speaker at national, state and local conferences on topics relating to labor-management cooperation and workforce development.  

In the community, Johnson has taken an active role and is part of the steering committee for the Easter Seals VIP fundraising campaign. She has served as a mentor to the Peoria High School Business Academy, participated in Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build program, been active on Congressman LaHood’s Education Skills Taskforce and is a member of Mayor Ardis’ Commission on Sustainability and Green Technology. She is a new board member of the Industry Institute of the Center of Emerging Technology in Infrastructure at Bradley University. Johnson is also busy with the Farmington School District, where she is active as a room parent, music and athletic booster, and promotes the new school construction. She has led and volunteered with the Farmington Lucky Clovers 4-H Club and is a member of the United Methodist Church of Farmington.  

Johnson was awarded a $500,000 grant to implement the Environmental Protection Agency’s Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program throughout central Illinois. She was co-awarded another grant for a high school work-based learning program with the goal of helping minority, female and low-income students enter union building trade careers. For her work on workforce development programs, Johnson earned the Connections Awards of Distinction from the Illinois State Board of Education, and this year, the Peoria Jaycees awarded Johnson with the Outstanding Young Business Professional Award.  

A strong supporter of education, Johnson is active on the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce Education Committee and Manual Career Academies Planning Committees. She is a volunteer presenter for area career fairs and an ex-officio member of the Workforce Development Board.

Ginger Johnson is a high-energy, high-achieving, enthusiastic and dynamic leader who balances a demanding career, family life and extensive community service, while running a 1,200-acre farm with her husband. iBi
