Since founding their business amidst the 2008 economic downturn, Jesse Cochran and Chris Scholl of AV Performance Innovations have earned a reputation as experts in the realm of home theater, audio-video and home automation. Based out of a small showroom inside of Studio 29 at 6523 North Galena Road in Peoria, the two business owners have steadily built their clientele the old-fashioned way: by focusing on outstanding customer service.

Those efforts continue to pay off—not only with increased local business, but with opportunities far and away from their home base. After successfully completing a large installation on Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in 2014, the company opened a brand-new retail store and showroom in the Myrtle Beach Mall in June. Like its Peoria shop, the new showroom features one of the only Dolby Atmos theaters in the area, immersing viewers in realistic and intense sound from every direction.

Back home in Peoria, AV has also seen an increase in demand for commercial projects. The firm recently paired up with restaurateur Travis Mohlenbrink, who has used their services in his home, as well as his businesses. “Their work at Thyme and Cayenne has helped me achieve the perfect atmosphere inside of my restaurants,” he says.

From simply mounting TVs in the bar area, to installing music throughout the establishment or adding eccentric lighting and automation, AV is known for its stellar work—and for keeping up with the latest technologies. The team recently added digital signage to its repertoire as well.

“We love seeing new technology that raises the bar,” says Cochran. “It presents a challenge at times, but it’s a challenge we are willing to rise above. At the end of the day, if our client is happy, then we have done our job.” iBi
