Brandy S. Dietrich is an architect at Dewberry, where she is responsible for design, construction administration and job safety. Since joining the firm in 2008, Dietrich has served as on-site architect or construction administrator for several highly visible projects, including Bradley University’s Renaissance Coliseum, the Peoria Riverfront Museum, Caterpillar Visitors Center and the demolition of the old terminal at Peoria International Airport. Her pivotal leadership was recognized in June with a Dewberry Spotlight Award.

In 2005, Dietrich became associate director of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Illinois Board. In this role, she created the Emerging Professional Task Force, chaired the Annual Conference Committee, and was instrumental in planning the state conference held in Peoria in 2006. The first associate member to serve on the AIA Illinois Executive Committee, she also served on its Development Committee and was elected treasurer in 2010 and 2011. She received her architect license in 2011, and this year, became president-elect of AIA Illinois. As its president next year, she will be the youngest architect to hold the position.

As her professional commitments require frequent travel, Dietrich spends some of her time in other cities volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, The Salvation Army, and numerous food banks and outreach ministries. Locally, she has been involved with Junior Achievement and dedicates much of her time to Keep Peoria Beautiful and PechaKucha Peoria.

In 2010, Dietrich became co-chair of Keep Peoria Beautiful’s Orchid and Onion Awards, and is now the organization’s president. She brought PechaKucha to Peoria the same year, coordinating a unique series of events for young designers and creatives to network and showcase their work. Through her efforts, the organization is going strong in its third year.

In addition, Dietrich spends time mentoring local architecture students and meeting with political representatives to advocate for livable and healthy communities. Unafraid to take on big challenges, she has the ability to pull people together and make things work, inspiring others to do the same along the way. iBi
