Dr. Teresa J. Lynch is medical director of the OSF Sisters Community Healthcare Center and interim director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria. She also serves as medical director of the OSF Community Clinic and assistant professor of internal medicine and pediatrics at UICOMP.
As a board member and medical director of the OSF Community Clinic, Lynch oversees budgetary issues, writes grants, and is responsible for the oversight and coordination of the clinic, which houses four residency program training sites and provides comprehensive healthcare for indigent patients.
She has served as a guiding force for the establishment of a Comprehensive Sickle Cell Center and Outpatient Infusion Center at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, and is a preceptor and mentor for residents in both ambulatory and inpatient settings.
As a vaccine champion through the Illinois chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Lynch has written letters to schools, done radio interviews, created and presented programs to parents, and prepared toolkits for pediatric and family medicine offices in order to promote childhood vaccination and combat vaccination myths.
She recently got involved with GUIDES, a student mentorship program created by UICOMP medical students in which volunteers give talks on health topics for children at local schools. In Chicago, she volunteered her time to work in the Pilsen Homeless Clinic and as a house physician for the Chicago Lyric Opera House.
Lynch has been recognized with a number of awards and scholarships throughout her college years and residency training, and she continues to be named one of the top instructors of medicine. Most recently, she was awarded for her quality improvement work in diabetes.
In addition to her numerous career and volunteer commitments, Lynch is a devoted wife and mother, and makes time to volunteer at her children’s school. iBi
