Attention bargain hunters, antique collectors and road trippers… the month of June brings plenty of opportunities to pile into the car and explore Illinois while searching for deals!

On June 9th and 10th, the fourth annual Blue Carpet Corridor Festival, “Miners, Mobsters and the Mother Road,” will feature events along historic Route 66 from Virden, south of Springfield, to Collinsville, near St. Louis. Twelve participating towns will welcome visitors with festivals, car shows, live entertainment, children’s activities, historic tours and exhibits, food vendors, antique shops, flea markets and more. The corridor is full of quirky attractions, rich mining history and colorful mobster lore just waiting to be discovered. Visit bluecarpetcorridor.org for maps, event schedules and more information.

The following weekend, the “More on 34: Miles and Miles of Bargains” event stretches more than 100 miles along Route 34 between Galesburg and Aurora, with events for the whole family to enjoy. In addition to yard sales, farmers’ markets, crafts and collectibles, highlights include the Blues on the Fox music festival in Aurora, the Kewanee Hog Capital BBQ Challenge and the Old Wheels Car Show in Princeton. Check out the fun on June 15th and 16th—visit moreon34.com for all the details.
