A Peoria-area native, Colleen Kimball is the third generation at Technicraft, a local graphics and printing company, where she serves as Director of Business Development. Technicraft specializes in fine art and interior graphic displays for a diverse range of clients, from corporate giants to solo artists, who turn to the company for its great customer service and attention to detail. “I really love working one-on-one with artists… getting their work out to the public and making it look as perfect as possible,” Kimball says. “I believe so much in our community, and our community stands on our art.”

A graduate of Southern Illinois University with a BA in political science, Kimball is an avid blogger, amateur baker, member of Bradley Epworth Church and volunteer with Peoria Irish Fest. Well known for her encouraging smile and upbeat demeanor, she loves to meet new people and explore central Illinois. Her favorite saying is, “Beginning well is a momentary thing; finishing well is a lifelong thing.” She and her husband, Kelly, live in East Peoria with their dog, Juno.

1. Favorite aspect of central Illinois: I love that it feels like the center of the world. We are middle-America people with deep roots and a rich history, as is evident in our everyday lives. It’s not the most glamorous culture, but people here are solid and down-to-earth.

2. Most impulsive thing I’ve ever done: Jumped off a random bridge in Costa Rica (with a bungee cord, of course!)

3. What talent would you most like to have? Being able to do metal vocals and sing. Then Kelly and I could form a metal band and go on tour. Hah!

4. What is your motto? “Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.”—from Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland.

5. Have you ever been told you look like somebody famous? Jeez, yes. I get Reese Witherspoon and Ana Kendrick all the time. I’ll take it though!

6. Favorite writers: Khaled Hosseini, Francine Rivers and Ravi Zacharias.

7. Who inspires you? My amazing friends. They’re all so unique and talented and authentic.

8. What’s some of the best advice you’ve been given: My Grandpa Ted is amazing and constantly drops advice in my lap like little treasures. He’ll be 85 this year and has the heart of a child. I adore him.

9. If you were able to retrieve only one item from your burning house, what would it be? My dog, Juno! Everything else is just stuff.

10. What’s next? Who can know? Every day is new and exciting and full of opportunity. I just run with it. a&s
