The shock of witnessing the disappearance of green space and children’s connections to nature sent Joan Root Ericksen and Bob Ericksen on a mission they are still working on today.
Make Your Home a Garden
With the hint of spring in the air, I longed for an outdoor retreat from a long day at the office, and realized just how important it was to me to transform that bare-bones patio into a peaceful outdoor sanctuary!
A Dymaxion Mosaic
Architect, philosopher, author, educator, mathematician, designer, futurist and inventor, Richard Buckminster “Bucky” Fuller (1895-1983) was one of the most visionary thinkers of the 20th century.
In the 1960s and ‘70s, Bob and Joan Root Ericksen, co-founders and directors of the Sun Foundation, worked on numerous projects with Buckminster Fuller.
Local Artists in Conjunction
Now in its fourth year, the Art Fair at Junction City will feature 50 local artists, who all reside within a 100-mile radius of Peoria. Here is a portrait of five of the artists displaying their works at this year's fair.
Without Leaving Peoria
Lions and tigers and bears! Oh, my! Actually, in this case, it’s more like, Monkeys and lions and gazelles! Oh, yes!
It’s that time of year...head over to the Pere Marquette, gather around the hundred-year-old upright piano, and listen to some serious musicians!
Return to Pimiteoui Pow Wow
On Saturday, June 13th and Sunday, June 14th, the 18th annual Return to Pimiteoui Pow Wow will be held at W.H. Sommer Park in Edwards, Illinois.
Enhancing your space for entertaining is always a plus and can actually increase the value of your home. Finding ways to customize and beautify the space you’re in can be very rewarding—and this is the perfect time of year to start.
