The Peoria Chiefs’ 2019 season is in full swing—with lots of exciting events, special promotions and a talented lineup including last year’s first-round draft pick, 19-year-old third baseman Nolan Gorman. Other Chiefs to watch this year include fellow infielders Delvin Perez, Brendan Donovan, Edwin Figuera and Josh Shaw, among others.

Dozer Park has had some updates since last season, including a new fire system, LED lighting on the field and concourse, new wall pads and repainted navy-blue dugouts. Spectators at the suite level will be treated to a walk through history at the suite entrance, with displays of former player jerseys, team photos and the 2002 championship trophy. As for those special promotions, here is a sampling of May’s lineup:

  • May 4: Battle for the Barrel. The Chiefs will rename themselves the Peoria Distillers—honoring Peoria’s early minor league incarnation—while battling the Bowling Green Bootleggers. The first 1,000 fans (21 and up) receive a free shot glass. Postgame fireworks included.
  • May 17: Hero Night. A Nolan Gorman bobblehead will be given to the first 1,000 fans (13 and up) and Heroes Inc. characters will make an appearance. Postgame fireworks included.
  • May 19: Pokemon Day! There will be a pregame Pokemon Go PvP tournament and postgame, a helicopter will be dropping Pokemon figures on the field.
