Residents here welcome the changing seasons—especially spring with its blue skies, sun, and blooming flowers. The anticipation of walks in the park and along the riverfront, getting into the swing of things at the golf course, and backyard picnics is a welcome relief from a long winter.

Our second issue of art & society™ is sure to give you spring fever. There’s so much here for you: a local artist profile, golf tips, how to look your best this summer, photos from your favorite community events, and another preview event. Last issue’s preview of Lakeview’s Museum Masquerade turned into a phenomenal success, and we look forward to the ever-popular Wines on the Prairie previewed in this edition. We also created a new feature called CIBP Tour where we take a look at specialties offered by local merchants. We start our tour in Peoria Heights sampling signature cocktails.

As you’ll read in our Letters section, readers and sponsors have been profuse in their appreciation of the first issue of art & society™, encouraging us to continue to let the magazine bloom in central Illinois. If you received this issue of art & society™ as a complimentary one-time gift, be sure to complete the subscription form inside. We’ve also made it easy for you to purchase an extra copy to send to a friend: issues are available for purchase at Barnes & Noble Booksellers in Peoria, Cyrus gift shop at 401 Water, Potter & Anderson Jewelers on Sheridan Road, The Bronze Frog at the Shoppes at Grande Prairie, or at the CIBP offices at 5005 North Glen Park Place.

There are so many events to attend, people to see, and places to visit that we’ll be busy the next couple of months! Central Illinois draws world-class musicians, artists, and entertainers to support our world-class businesses and medical community. Shopping is great as well, with new boutiques and stores moving into the Shoppes at Grand Prairie, Peoria Heights, and the Metro Centre. Like to golf, hike, swim, or get out on the water? No need to leave central Illinois this spring; we have it all right here! Be sure to keep the Community Affairs calendar nearby to plan your next local outing.

As always, if you’d like to suggest a feature, an event, or home we should include in an upcoming issue of art & society™, drop us an e-mail at [email protected]. We’d love to hear from you.
